Do I need to string up my raspberries?

RenthorinDecember 12, 2012

I bought 4 raspberry plants last spring and over the summer/fall they grew several feet. My concern is they aren't growing upright as canes but rather as wild crazy limbs going off in all directions.

Do I need to hang some strings and guide them upwards?

new canes on ESTABLISHED plants.. will be truer to form ...

these canes will bear next summer.. and die ... being biennial ...

yes you can string them up if you want..

but in the long run.. you probably wont have to do it ..
