Please help with my Apricot tree

DriveFly44(8a)December 8, 2013

Hello, was hoping someone could assist in diagnosing what is going on with my Blenheim. I planted this bare-root in a container a year ago along with about 8 other fruit trees (they are all doing great) but he is struggling. Thank you so much!!!!!

My guess is bacterial canker or possibly Eutypa dieback. There isn't much you can do at this point for that tree. UC Davis is your best info source for those diseases esp if you are in CA.

In the future prune back to the branch collar rather than leaving a stub like those pictured. And only prune during the driest time of year, mid to late summer in CA.

Thanks fruitnut. Guess I'll find another one this winter and cut my loss. It was the only one of my fruit trees that didn't seem to drain well. Perhaps that was a contributing factor.
