how deep can I transplant eggplant

chuckgttJuly 30, 2008

I was given some spindly eggplants by a friend with a nursery. I am going to plant them for the fall garden. Starts now in this part of Texas (was 104 today). Can I plant them deep like tomatos and if yes how deep? They are about a foot tall and the size of pencils. This is just an experiment to see if the will survive?

Thanks

Chuck

Yes, you can plant eggplant deep like tomatoes. I plant them up to the cotyledons or up to the first set of leaves, depending on how big the plants have grown, when I set mine out.
