Comtesse de Lacepede?

maureeninmd(z6 MD)January 28, 2010

Has anyone grown the gallica Comtesse de Lacepede? According to HMF there's some confusion about this rose. HMF photos show what looks to be Mme. Hardy AND some darker pick rose. Pickering's looks more as it was originally described.

Pickering's Comtesse looks supremely beautiful. Id like to some information about her.

Thanks!

Maureen

I haven't seen the pictures on HMF but any that are from Sweden are likely to be Madame Hardy and not Comtesse de Lacépède of old descriptions. I bought my rose as CdL and recognized the madame H as soon as it bloomed, pure white. CdL should be pink.

I have two CdL from Pickering at least one of them is likely Mme Hardy-an easy Id-I am trying to remember where the other one is...I will have to look for it. They were ordered in 04 and 05 so it has been awhile.
