Marble tile

Janine StarykowiczJune 21, 2005

I have a cinderblock wall, L-shaped. Two blocks high, three long, one block on the L. I've been looking for something to top it. These are old-style cinderblocks, not the modern straight rectangle ones, and the top is not quite level.

I found some marble floor tiles discounted to $1.50 each, and bought a carton of five. They are 12x12, so won't quite cover the stretch unless I get them trimmed. I may just cover what I can and use a planter to hide the uncovered part.

Marble can't be left out in the winter, so whatever I do will need to be removable so I can bring it inside.

We're having ceramic tile laid in our kitchen, if there is any leftover base from that, will that work outside? Has anyone else tried something similar?

the marble will adhere if you use a really good latex bonded thinset like Laticrete Gold or some equivalent. Once Gold has cured, you would be hard pressed to remove it with a bulldozer.
