Can rhubarb be mailed bareroot?

I'm a newbie, and I need to ship rhubarb from KY to NY. The roots have already been dug (stalks and leaves removed),and cleaned. Can anyone help me?

I don't think you can kill it. It should be fine. I've thrown it away and found it growing a year later, just growing on top of the ground.
