I'd like to try growing orchids

qrper(5)November 28, 2010

Greenhouse sits at 46 at night.

Read that would be too cold

Can I grow orchids with that low of night time temperatures?

If so,what kind?

there are lots of cool growing orchids and some that need a cool dormant period. look into draculas, masdevallias, pleurothalids, cymbidiums (some) pleiones, bletilla. remember these will want cool temps in the summer too. can you turn your heater up a bit. i grow cyms, phals, paphs, oncidium, catt intergenerics, angraecums, stanhopea, etc. my greenhouse is set at 55 during the winter and then plants are moved outside in the spring. they grow and bloom fine.
