Irina, do you have a worm farm? Details please, details...
My report of the worm farm. I had a small under the sink farm - and everything was working good - I fed the worms - add some ripped newspaper for them to layer between coffee grounds and veggie peels and every several months I disassembled the box - keeping the worms - and taking the compost out. '
One of these days I was making something with the apples and ended with a lot of apple peelings and cores - and without thinking - dumped a dinner plate of the goodies in their box. Worms were not able to eat it all at once, the apples got fermented - and turned into cider. The worms got drunk - and crawled out of the box, on the kitchen floor - all over the place - and there were lots of drunk worms. I collected them, put them back, added more newspaper - but they crawled out again. At that point my family said - either them - or worms.
So.... which one was it?
I had a worm farm in my kitchen in a rubbermaid bin with lots of holes drilled in it for two years. Then I moved to a smaller kitchen. I loved it! I was told to always freeze things before I put them in, to kill fruit flies.
since we are celebrating an anniversary with my hubby today- I picked him, not the worms.
Urban - you are a genius - I am going to put my baggie with worm poop into the freezer. It is not fruit flies - it is darn fungus gnat eggs that hatch as soon as you wet the castings.
