Has anyone gone to this show before, or know anything about it? I'm wondering if I might find a broader range of gesneriads for sale there?

I went to the second day of this show last year, and the sales tables were pretty much wiped out. The show is hosted by the Bay State African Violet Society. You might be able to find out more about what they'll have for sale by contacting Nancy Manozzi at
One of the plants I would like to find is sinningia leucotricha, wondering if gesneriad relatives will be available. Not sure what to expect, but I hope it's worth the two hour drive!
I went last year to this show. I can't recall that there were a whole lot of other Gesneriads. There was just one commercial vendor - Lyndon Lyon Greenhouse. The rest of the sales were members' plants. There could have been some in there but definitely the majority were AVs.
Are you going again this year, Sue? I would like to, but the 4-hour drive is just too much! :-(

You definitely want to arrive as close to ten am as you can, for the sales room fills up quickly and the plants fly out of there. In 2010, there were 900 plants from Lyon's, and 50 left at the end of Saturday!
In the past, there has been a good selection of episcia's grown by Lyons, in addition to many AV's. I can't remember too many other gesneriads, but that could be just my memory. There should be some great streps in the show as one of their members usually has entered them in the past. Maybe the member's plant sale will have some more gessies.
Samantha, it's the closest show to Maine, grab a couple of girlfriends, and make a day of it!
I went the last year it was held at the Cooperative Extension. $12 to get in (each) and 3 tanks of gas makes it a harder sell to the husband. sigh. Bought my 1st named AVs at that show.
Hi Samantha, Yes I plan to go. It's only about 1 1/2 hour ride for me. (a little less if I don't get lost!)
I am going to be there first thing Saturday morning if I can. That's best for the sales. But I discovered last year that they were doing the final judging on Saturday morning and not all the awards had been determined yet. So I might have to plan to stay a bit longer.
