chiratas?

gramyjanOctober 28, 2007

A friend gave me a sweet little plant she called a "chirata tomiana"? I'm sure I've got the spelling all wrong. The leaves are more leggy than an AV and the flowers are very unusually shaped. She said it is a part of the AV family. It seems to have a rather long neck, is this common with chiratas? Please correct my spelling.

Thanks,, Jan

Hi Jan,
Theh correct spelling is Chirita Tamiana. Those of us who grow it call it a Korean weed. It does grow vertically and is one of the gesneriads which in turn are related to violets.
