Do common guppies need darkness?

albert_135(Sunset 2 or 3)February 4, 2010

I noticed that the wife's guppies get rather quiet at night when the light is off but if the light is left on they seem to do their thing all night long.

So, I became curious. Do common guppies need any period of darkness?

all animals need some period of darkness, to regulate their internal clocks and biorythems. animals who live in darkness 24/7 use magnetic fields and electrical impulses to regulate their biorythems
