Curious to know if anyone can share their experiences with SilverDollars? Are these a peaceful fish for a community tank? I have Platys, Mollies, Neons, Corycats, Guppies and a couple Plecos. The tank us 55 gal. I appreciate any input. Tropicalfreak

Platies and guppies they might eat the tails. Neon tetras when the silver dollars get larger the will eat whole.

Hi
Have been keeping aquariums for many years and I think the most successful were those with a primary purpose.
In other words decide what you want the tank to do. If for fish choose two or three compatible species.
Do you want it to be planted?? hard or soft water.??
Mainly fish or plants? The more species the more problems for sure lol.
Platies and Mollies are generally hard water fish while neons and corys are soft lol
Silver dollars will decimate plants. Best in a species tank since they also school.
Choose the two species that interest you most and set the tank to those requirements??
If you want plants AND fish choose from those compatible types.
Platies swords, guppies are also best kept in species tanks because of the reproduction rates.
Have you tried some of the more active aquarium sites??
"Tropical fish profiles" for example will give you info
on how best to keep that particular species.
