Valentine's Day Un-Massacre @ National Arboretum

rhodyman(SE PA, USDA Z6)February 14, 2011

Hi everyone,

First the National Arboretum website announced the suspension of plans to destroy the azalea, boxwood and other collections.

The National Arboretum also set up a Collections Comments Form for feedback:

Then the NBC TV station in Washington, DC, announced "Anonymous Donor Saves the Azaleas"

Apparently some one gave FONA a million dollars to set up an endowment for the azaleas and boxwood. Some details of the FONA came out in a press release:

This should trigger an avalanche of news, hopefully it will all be good.

Here is a big, and tentative, CONGRATULATIONS to all for keeping the faith and pressure.

I left comments for the NA. Your website was a great link for Facebook mobilization.
