i dont think im very impressed with this what do you think?
well, apart from the fact it's an alocasia and that's the same picture that is always up on ebay, i'd say it's quite legit.
they have it in an incredibly tiny pot though.
PS: steve, did you get my email about a trade?
Definitely alocasia - upright foliage. Is it macrorhiza?
hi hen no i didnt i was still kinda waitingbut i have had some problems with my spam filter email me again with what you have
Defiantely a Mac , not a col. esculenta
Looks like Alocasia gageana (also spelled gagaena) to me.
Here, Lowe's & Walmart sell it as Colocasia "California".
One of the hadiest & toughest, I can just stick it in the ground in N. Texas.
thanks folks i thought i was right but i just wanted to be sure before i correct the company
it does bug me that some so-called gardening sites cant even get the right genus let alone species
sorry im starting to sound like a grumpy old man long before my time
Caveat emptor. Not very many folks out there know their aroids. Even I, as a beginner have to buy one, bring it home, and try to ID it. So far, I've been lucky because the ones I've found have been easy with the help of everybody on this forum.
The ebayer may just be a beginner himself/herself and is just trying to sell a plant. Somebody who would buy the plant probably doesn't care about the name.
