Help: 12 disciples plant?

daffodillady(7b/8a central AL)March 22, 2008

A very kind older lady gave me a HUGE bulb that she called 12 Disciples. She could not tell me anything else about it. It dies back every winter. It was in full sun. The hole that it and it's 15 bulbets came out of was about 3 ft across and about that deep. I asked on the plant ID forum, but only had one answer, so I thought asking Bama folks might get the right answer. What is it and how do I care for it properly?

This may be the plant.

"Neomarica gracilis, (Brazilian Walking Iris). Native of regions from Southern Mexico to Brazil. Also known as the twelve apostles, has intricately designed orchard-like white flowers of white with mottled crimson and a blue-violet banding. Glossy green, arching leaves, like an iris which are sometimes more than 24 inches long.....Grows in grassy clumps up to 5 feet wide and equally high, does well in pots and particularly suitable to hanging baskets."
