black cherry tomatoes in hsv or bhm or between?

bamadave(7B)April 13, 2013

Black Cherry tomatoes are my favorite type. I failed to start any from seeds this year and would like to buy some plants locally. Last year I bought some from Plant Odyssey in Birmingham, but Libby is closing her store due to retirement. If anyone sees these available in the Birmingham area, Huntsville/Decatur area, or places in between, I would appreciate a heads up. I live north of Birmingham but work in Huntsville/Decatur so have lots of options for shopping!

Bonnie Plants sells them, but the Lowe's stores in Gardendale and Cullman didn't have the variety.

Dave, I looked at the Hsv Botanical Garden sale the weekend of the 18th and I didn't see any there. You might call Bennett's nursery in Huntsville and see if they have any. I've seen lots of heirlooms there and also at Earth Touch in Huntsville. Would be glad to pick some up for you if they have them. I need make a trip to both places for some things in the next week or so.

Found them! Red Barn in Gadsden, where it merges into Glencoe. E-mail me at mosasaur47@msn.com for directions, if Gadsdn is not too far off the track.

Thank you for all of the info! I'll keep the Gadsden location in mind. Next year I need to start these from seeds. LOL.

bamadave, visiting the local garden shop, Julian Hardware in Sylvan Springs I ran across the black cherry. Remembering your post here, thought that I might as well get a couple. Plants were from Bonnie's Plant Farm.

Looking forward to the first one to pick.

Update - found some at Lowe's in Trussville when I was in the area running some errands! Thank you, again, to all of the help scoping out these tomatoes. Next year I really need to start plants from seeds... would save me lots of time and money!
