What plants (ornamentals, trees, perennials) grow easiest for you? What plants can't you grow or have extreme difficulty growing in prairie soil?

I just wanted to add some plants that have done well for me in my prairie soil. Canna lilies do wonderful, no amending necessary. Vinca grows in the shade underneath my live oaks where nothing else will grow. Colcocasia with moderate amending have done very well for me. Hydrangeas with moderate amending have done well also. Amaryllis do very well with little or no amending.

Good luck and don't be afraid to experiment.
