hardy eucalyptus infected and dying

farmer95June 5, 2014

My hardy eucalyptus is dying and from what I have found is infected, probably due to the immense amount of rain we have had in east central Alabama. It is huge and now I will have to have it cut down. Just to warn anyone else out there. Tree was fine until this spring when it started turning brown from the top down and from the inside out. I am located in Weaver (outside of Anniston). You can find photos online that show you exactly what this horrible disease looks like. It is called Armillaria.

My Eucalyptus neglecta is also dying. It is only about 12-ft.-tall and half as wide. I wonder if armillaria could be the cause? I'll have to read up on it. I would hate to lose it, as it was given to me by a good friend who passed away three years ago.

Thanks for the info, farmer95, but sorry to hear about your tree.

Jacksonville here...just a "country mile" to Weaver;-)

We removed our frost damaged 14' E. neglecta this Monday. A dozen or so 20" suckers had already sprouted.
