Propagation Seminar at Aldridge Gardens

tsmith2579(7B)June 11, 2008

There is a hydrangea propagation seminar at Aldridge Bot. Gardens in Hoover, Saturday, June 14 from 9-11 a.m. I believe it is free. It will be taught by Mr. Eddie Aldridge. The info says you will have the opportunity to clip a few hydrangeas and take the cuttings home. I hope to see you there. - Terry

Terry, wish I could make it to this one, but my morning this saturday is already full. We were at Aldridge last w/e for the arts & crafts show, and the hydrangeas are really beautiful now. I hadn't been there for five or six years & was really amazed at how everything in the gardens had matured. It's really becoming a showcase for the Hoover area.

Are you going to the Hardy Palm seminar on the 21st? Its being given by Dr. David Francko, who used the be the head of the botany dept at Miami University (Ohio), but now is the Dean of the UA graduate school at Tuscaloosa. I heard him speak in Huntsville a few years ago, and he really gives an interesting lecture on cold hardy palms.

I am going if they still have an opening. They only had 4 seats left when I emailed them before lunch. It is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Hope to see you there, Terry.

I was at the art show last weekend also at the gardens on Sunday, and
I think some of the artists were starting to lose their minds in the heat.
The Hydrangeas looked all droopy too, but of course recover by night time,
unlike the people.

They had a little "plant swap" I went to there at the gardens a couple of weeks ago, where a guy from Southern Living talked about plants people brought.
I kept thinking those people need to see a REAL swap!

Y'all missed a good program. Beth (Daffodillady)and I attended and we brought home a number of cuttings and some good knowledge about hydrangeas. I'm off to the yard to take some more cuttings. Have a great weekend.
