floppy may night salvia

newplanter_roseJuly 10, 2010

This is only my second year of gardening and it's been sort of hit or miss. I tried May Night Salvia last year and they didn't do well so I dug them up this spring and planted hyacynths in their place. But I tried five more Salvia in other locations. One is doing fairly well but they all have a rather floppy appearance. What can I do to encourage that upright position of the flowers?

Does this site have plenty of full sun? Do you think that there might be a chance that you are over fertilizing these plants?
