Do potato onion ever flower?

gcdouglass(z1)August 2, 2006

I have not yet grown potato onions, so I was wondering if they flower?

If so, I was wondering if it would be possible to cross pollinate with a regular onion. It would be interesting to see if the result could produce some new potato onion varieties.

Yes they Do flower like the others. I left about 20 to go to seed this season. The seed cases don't look as full as my others left for seed, so do not know if this will work on the variety.

I don't know about x-ing onions at all!
