Too Early to Purchase Garlic for Fall Planting?

achang89(Z6)August 13, 2014

A local farmer brings garlic to the farmer's market to sell. I just wonder if it is too early to buy now and store it for two months to plant.

Should I wait to buy later? I'm not sure if they will save the garlic for me.

No need to worry about garlic losing quality between now and mid-October. Keep it at room temp and it will be fine. There is a guy at our farmers market selling very very nice garlic for planting and eating. If I wasn't stocked up already, I'd be buying some.

If I buy the seed garlic bulbs, should I store them in garage or basement?
