Can you ID this Semp?

cannacrazy(8 SC)August 30, 2008

I've searched the internet and can't find this plant anywhere. Maybe it's not even a Semp?? Can anybody tell me? And is that a bloom?

For sure not a sempervivum. Flower spikes never emerge from the sides of a rosettes.

Definitely not a Sempervivum!

I am strictly against ID Sempervivums from photos.

I myself have 1.700 different semps, that must give you a idea how warioust they are. In fact, there are more than 4.000 named cultivars and obout 70 species ... vith varieties, subspecies, fild collected clones, seedlings with no name ...

To ID a Semp from a photo is imposiible, even for trained eye. Once the semps is without a name it will stay this way for good. Lost labels plants can be beautiful, too, you know.

Please do no "made up" names for Sempervivums. More than enough plants with wrong names is already in cultivation.

For more info, see my sempervivum blog.

Looks like what I've been told is a "Hen and Chick" plant.
Have then in my garden and this one looks like it is ready to blossom. The blossom dies and sometimes the mother plant dies afterwards but then babies start to grow.
