My whites

brigarif KhanMarch 26, 2010

Most of my white amaryllis have a slight ting of red. Even confirmed white SNOW QUEEN will at times show a line of red. I wonder why? Any idea?

White amaryllis are like vanilla ice cream. They let you appreciate the quality of the flower without the distraction of beautiful color.

Since red may be the natural color of many flowers, a tinge of red may sneak through. At the Keukenhof shows, one of the judges told me that white flowers develop some red in response to cold or stress. That might be another reason for the red appearing.
