Pink berried tree

In February 2002 I spent a week in Sierra Vista visiting my mother.
Around the town and gardens, I saw a beautiful small tree.
It ranged in height from about 15 feet to 40 feet.
It was deciduous, with pink berries all over it's bare branches.
It did not grow wild, but was always in gardens or town plantings.
I picked up some of the pink berries and took them back to England with me.
They germinated well and all grew into Albizia julibrissin.
This surprised me as I did not know that Albizia julibrissin had pink berries, and when I looked it up, found out that it's seeds were in flat pods.
So what had happened?
Had I got muddled up?
I bought one of my young trees with me when I moved here to Crete. It is happy in my garden here.
But what was the tree with pink berries?
Does anyone know?

thisisme, thank-you, but the tree I saw was deciduous.
It's berries were definitely pink, lipstick pink.

Probably Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis), they are popular in Sierra Vista.

aztreelvr, That looks like it!
This is great. Finally, finding out what it is after all these years of wondering.
The size and shape look spot on.
I only saw it in February, when of course it had no leaves at all. All the photos I can find on Google show the leaves.
I don't suppose anyone has a photo of it in winter I could see?
Thanks Daisy
