hauka or lanka plant

baci(z10Ca)September 2, 2006

Anyone ever heard of a hauka or lanka plant? It looks like a ginger & the leaves are used in cooking wrapped around chicken or fish. I believe the names are Thai names.

Thanks for any help.

Could it be Galangal? One of the botanical names is Languas galangal(Alpinia galanga) and it sounds very similar to Lanka.

Here is a link that might be useful: Galangal
