West Indian Lilac

Does anyone have any experience growing Lilacs in Phoenix? I'd like to get one but wanted to see if anyone had any advice. Are they fast growers? Full sun?

Not enough winter chill here for most of them. They may survive, but they don't bloom well.

Some of the really new hybrids may be able to bloom with less chill, but they hate the summers here. You gotta go to Prescott or higher to grow good lilacs.

That "West Indian Lilac" can't take the heat and the dry air.
