Please help ID these rhododendrons

thane(z8 Bellevue, WA)November 30, 2006

These rhodies came with my house, and they're gorgeous. I'd love to know which variety they are... Please let me know if you have any ideas. I have read through lists and web sites, and I've identified all of the rhodies and azaleas in my yard except for these.

They're about 7' tall now, and seem to be quite old. The blooms started out very dark pink, and faded to a lovely pink-white as shown in the photos. Hopefully this is enough to ID them.

Looks like they could be either 'Mrs G. W. Leak' or 'Mrs Furnival'. Both are tough (and common to our area) rhodies wth prolific bloom and similar coloration and markings. Mrs F tends to have a lighter blotch and blooms slightly earlier to Mrs L.

Here is a link that might be useful: the Mesdames....

Ah hah! I think you've got it with 'Mrs. G. W. Leak'. I know it's not Mrs. Furnival, because I have some definite Mrs. Furnivals around the corner and these are (initially) much deeper pink.

Thanks for the answer!
