Pindo Palm (jelly palm)

Daniel26March 17, 2011

Is anyone growing a fruit-producing Pindo palm also known as Jelly palm (Butia capitata) here in the low desert in Arizona?

I am considering getting a pindo palm but I would like to taste the fruit first. Does anyone know where I could go to purchase this fruit?

I planted a small one of these this past fall. I wasn't able to find any fruit to taste so I hope that it's good :)
