What bamboo is best for building & eating purposes? Also, goats!
I'm looking for a variety of bamboo that is invasive, very fast growing, can grow to at least 2-3 inches in diameter, and be at least 10 feet tall. I'm in Zone 5.
I would like to be able to bend them to a certain small degree, use some for simple construction projects, and for temporary fencing.
It would be a huge plus if I could be able to eat the shoots of a few I do not want to grow. I guess that rules out some of the Phyllostachys, but if I can't find edible ones that match the above specs then I don't have to be able to eat them.
On another note, how well can goats eat them as fodder?
