Musa sikkimensis 'Red TIger'

bruce_ca(z10 and z8 CA)February 1, 2009

I just heard about that and am wondering if it holds the striping as the leaves mature or if they go green like the regular sikkimensis?

I haven't been able to certifiably acertain this via web browsing.

I have the regular one that is huge, 20' or so and would love to have a colored one. I'm in San Francisco...and it grows insanely fast!

I have grown them on two diferent occasions.I cannot seem to overwinter them here in Massachusetts like basjoo. When mine got to be about four feet, the new leaves started fading. By the time they got to about seven feet the red color was gone. That is just my experience.
