Oldhammi Propagation

jb_fla(9a)April 4, 2010

Hi there-

I live in Central Fla. In Jan I cut down an olhammi culm and planted one node cuttings into a 50/50 sand peat medium in experimenting with propagating.

Today I noticed one of the cuttings is sending two shoots from the node, but there are no signs of any roots.

From experience, anyone know if I can expect roots?

Thanks kindly,

jb

Wow, an old but excellent thread, one which I contributed a lot to.

To answer your question, it might be several months before you see roots. I'd leave it potted and just wait it out, monitoring for new growth or decline. If the shoots die off the and culm turns brown it never developed roots.
