Take yourself over to Singh Farms in south Scottsdale on a Saturday morning [8am to 2pm] for some of the best compost in town. $50 for a front loader scoop so you will need a pickup truck or a trailer. I screened both loads I purchased and use the bigger pieces as top dressing/mulch.

Turn north at the first driveway east of 101.
