Bamboo For Slope, Low Water, Oak Root Fungus.....?

millerthymeMay 30, 2009

Greetings All!

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a selection of bamboo that would fit the following criteria:

Low water when established

Imparts a Japanese forest look

Will grow on a slope in full sun

Is resistant to Oak Root Fungus

15-25 ft tall....maybe more if that opens up the options

Thanks much!

Bamboo in Japan and those emulating the Japanese Garden look is in the runner category. There are beautiful clumping mountain bamboo that like slopes but hate sun.
I grow a lot of bamboo around oaks & have not seen a impact re fungus. Nothing I know exactly meets your needs but I'd go with Bambusa multiplex Alphonse Karr, Bambusa multiplex Silver Stripe, or Boliana fungosa. Rgds Fred
