When is bamboo seed ripe

mervallJune 27, 2008

I have a Fargesiae nitida (itself only a ten year old seedling) setting seed. How do I know when they are ripe.

Might want to start some to replace this plant. Not sure.

When the seed falls from the plant it is ripe. If you shake the culms and seeds fall, they are probably ripe.

Have any fallen yet?

Do you think you can send me some of the seeds if and when they are ripe. I tried some Nitida a while back but none grew and I would like to try again.

Let me know. I will send you a SASE if you need me too.

email me if you are able to.
