species of banana??

Can anyone tell me what kind of banana this is?

The base of the trunk has a red tint to it also. And at the top of the plant I cannot see new leaf growth because the base of the last leaf is closed instead of being U shaped

It'll be tough to say for sure, as a number of bananas maintain similar characteristics. Sometimes the only sure way to determine which variety you have is to observe the bloom.

Likeliest plant is Namwah, followed by Manzano and Ice Cream Banana, IMO.

The Ice Cream/Blue Java generally doesn't have pink on the petioles or pseudostem, so it's the least likely.
