Giant French Plantain Keeps Falling Early

grungeelJune 14, 2013

I have a few mats of the Giant French Plantain in my farm. The problem with them is that they keep breaking the pseudo stems before the bunch is ready to be harvested. The plants are 12 feet on average, and the bunches are 100 pounds plus. How do I solve the problem of premature harvesting for my giants?

You can either allow the bunches to ripen off the plant (remove bunches early), or build a crutch for the p-stem to lean against. A crutch made from PVC can be built for only a few dollars.
