Things that could cause a banana not to flower?

ChatanoogaChooChoo(7b)July 12, 2012

I've had my muse velutina for almost two years, and it's produced three pups in this time, but never once flowered or produced fruit. What could be going on with this? What do bananas need to produce flowers and fruit?

Thanks for your time,

Amanda

They need warmth and a long growing season to flower. They produce pups when the plant is getting old, or gets a set back, like winter. But they are also heavy feeders and need lots of fertilising to get fastest growth.

Your velutina needs more time. Here in Indiana, most bananas take four years.
