What pesticides are safe to use ?

EPABLO1208(5bIN)January 3, 2006

I am contemplating a start at bee keeping. I am wondering if I will be able to use pyrethrins or rotenone on squash plants in my garden if I have a bee hive. Last year I had a big problem with Japanese beetles. Comments ? thanks, Paul.

According to http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2161.html, both are listed as relatively non-toxic. Still one should be careful applying any pesticides. It should be applied so that it doesn't drift onto the hives themselves or flowers the bees are working.
