ID needed and overwintering questions

bradleyo_gwSeptember 11, 2006

First time posting pics...hope it works. I bought what I thought was musa basjoo in May but after seeing some other pictures, I'm not so sure that is what it is. The circumference of the main pseudostem is well over 2 feet and some of the pups are just as large. If basjoo, I will overwinter in the ground, otherwise I need help. I have included the before pic in late May if it helps.\

I've seen some mention digging and storing under the house. I don't have that option. I have a heated basement and an unheated garage that never dips below 40F (although it can stay there for quite some time). Will either of these work, and do you have any other tips for that method?

I also have several potted pups which I'd rather not keep in my limited window space. Can I store those in the basement without grow lights?

I vote for some type of cavendish.

I agree with them. And if it's a cavendish, you can store it in the basement or garage as long as it doesn't freeze. But if those pups are small, you will have to keep them going in whatever window space you have because they wouldn't be big enough to store.
