Forked culm

mike9September 26, 2009

One of the more leaning culms on my Sasa Oshidensis is forked with another culm attached more than 6" up above the ground and leaning the other direction. The culms both have small leaves.

Is a culm forking into two culms normal?? I've never seen that before.

Can you post a picture? Sasas and Pseudosasas have a branching structure that sounds like what you are describing. That "second" culm may simply be a healthy-sized branch forking off.

Man Speak with Forked Culm. Probably is a branch.
