I think I have an Amaryllis in my Garden

lagenaria_va(7 VA)July 27, 2010

But I can't be sure because I have virtually no experience. In addition, I can't seem to find pictures of them growing outside or when they bloom in the mid-Atlantic. Can anyone confirm I have Amaryllis, or am I offtarget?

Here is a link that might be useful: Maybe Pink Amarylils

They appear to be Amaryllis, from Africa, not Hippeastrum, from south America, which are members of the Amaryllid family, also.

Howdy lagenaria and Del!

My guess is that these pink beauties are Lycoris squamigera another member of the Amaryllidaceae.

Enjoy their loveliness no matter what they may be.

Cheers,

Blanca

Thank you!! I think you're right, they do look like Lycoris squamigera. They're lovely, either way!!
