Need help identifying this bee...

tdotzSeptember 4, 2013

Sorry to be a burden, new to bee's and needed experts help in this one.

Found this bee the other day flying around and was persistent, dove at my dog a couple times.

Had no choice but to take it out. It was about the size of my thumb, and I'm a grown man.

Then it looked like its partner in crime hovered around the area for a good 3 hours so far, and still there.

Figured I'd ask the experts in identifying it.
