Hi, I'm new to this forum.Has anyone on here ever heard of lettice leaf begonia? The leaves are large and ruffled..I saw this in a greenhouse but the owner would not part with it. thanks
Its 'proper' name is Begonia 'Bunchii', a hybrid from 1914. It is listed in the Thompson's begonia book as medium-leaved, crested margin (generally 3 to 6 inches at maturity.) (I'm quoting, even the parenthesis, except this one!) It's a tough, beautiful begonia and was one of the first ones I grew more years ago than I can remember. Is that everything you wanted to know? It shouldn't be too hard to find if you want to get one, or you might be able to persuade the greenhouse grower to part with a leaf, maybe one that's been damaged, and grow your own. But be warned--that way lies addiction!
Thank you so much. That was what I wanted to know. Thanks again
