I have two bulbs that are very large compared with those sold in the "box stores".
One produced a 30 inch spike and 6 flowers. It has bloomed twice this year with no help from me. No fertilizer. Is this common?
Nancy, is it an Apple Blossom? They tend to get pretty large.
There are really large cultivars and really small, as long as you give them room to grow they'll get big :)
No, this one is orange and white, maybe called Clown.
What do I do with the two suckers that are growing in the same pot? When do I remove them?
Hi Nancy, well sounds like your Clown is getting pretty big. I don't have one of those myself, but some bulbs get big and some just are tiny. When the bulblet has its own roots you can remove it. That's generally when it has 3-4 leaves. You can separate it if you want to and put it in another pot, or use it to trade here with folks. Usually Ryan gets a trading list going in the spring which is kinda fun because you can see what others have that you'd like to trade for. Alana
I saw many varieties on a site and think my plant may be Minerva. Clown is not quite the same shape flower.
