Will my figs ripen?

greendesertNovember 5, 2010

I'm having a weird experience with this fig tree (the one that my dog ate to the ground last year. It came back strong in the spring, made some figs and then I thought OK, we're done with figs until next year. Recently I just noticed that the thing is full of figs again. It's a Brown Turkey fig. My Mission fig is definitelly done for the year, but the BT seems to be operating on a different schedule. This spring it was the first to ripen and made some huge and actually quite tasty figs. I sure hope they'll ripen otherwise it would be a waste.

Its really a toss up this time of year. We could have another 2-3 weeks of warm weather or it could cool off next week and stay that way. So I'm going to say maybe yes and maybe not.

If you want to speed up the ripening process just follow the link.

Here is a link that might be useful: Oiling figs ?
