Sempervivum ID?

hortster(6a, southcentral KS)January 29, 2012

I have been trying to zero in on the species of this Sempervivum - I know there are a gazillion of 'em. Years ago I picked this one out of a mixed batch with only the typical label "hen and chicks."

Just as a curiosity I have been trying to ID this one. Rosettes are about an inch across, largest maybe and inch and a quarter. In summer it is green with red tips. I have never seen it bloom over many years. From my googling it seems a lot like S. montanum. Is this close or am I reaching for the moon? Thanks in advance for any confirmation or other guesses...

Good luck with that one. Nice that it is so colorful this time of year. Speaking of reaching for the moon. Looks like you got it planted in a moon rock. Very nice.
