Does anyone know if this plant has male and female parts and if so will it self?

That color is great. Is it always colored like that with the right light?

Hi Bryan, that's so striking.
I've seen at least 4 kinds of Hechtia that bloom here, H. glauca, H. rosea,
which I used to post pics in this forum, and two unknown.
They all seem to be dioecious, only male or female flower.
If your has both sex, I think it should set seed.

This morning I found this unknown Hechtia blooming in my xeric garden.

They were mating on the flower stalk.

It appears to be female plant.

Any idea, what species it should to be?
