this is a species? is it similar to aechmea leptantha???
i think i want this one too. LOL
Doesn't look like anybody wants to talk to you on this one. How do I find your photo of Aechmea 'yellow brazil'.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark for you with the hint you've given ie: leptantha.
A big yellow Aechmea you're looking at could be Ae. blanchetiana, another possibility with the hint you have given is Aechmea eurycorymbus, this is a large grey/green plant with a magnificent golden/red/orange, branched spike to 2.5mtr tall (7-8ft), this plant doesn't like as much sun as Ae. blanchetiana who is a full sun loving plant & comes in red, orange, golden & green leaf forms.
Hope this helps, Pinkbroms
thanks for your input! the only thing i know is that it can be seen at bullis bromeliads (www.bullisbroms.com). check it out and see what you think.
i just purchased a 'yellow brazil' from ebay and its definitely different from blanchetiana and eurycorymbus (i love those too). in fact, i love all the aechmeas. LOL
I checked out Bullis's for you, I would be pretty confident in saying it is a very well grown Aechmea emmerichiae. It definately fits that group of things, read more in Uncle Derek says.
I forgot about Aechmea rubens, it also fits this group.
