New sighting for me!

annainok(7b)April 12, 2011

My yard has been full of Tiger Swallowtails, yellow and black form, all month; but when I was outside late this evening watching my daughter mow when I spied something different nectaring on the azaleas. Fortunately I was able to run inside and grab my camera. Not the best pictures, the mower made it skittish, but at least I can lay claim to my first Papilio cresphontes! It seemed quite determined--flying off, then returning to the same bush again and again.

I probably don't have a week of bloom time left, but it's been great thus far.

Beautiful, Anna, and congratulations on your first giant!
I love those giant swallowtails, and they apparently love your azaleas!

Wow, nice pictures. The Giants are one of my favorite swallowtails.

(Clearly, I don't grow grapefruit for a living!)
